Privacy Policy

The short version: Your watchlist stays on your device. Article text is sent to our server only to generate AI analysis — we never store it, sell it, or share it.

1. Who we are

StockSpy.ai is a Chrome extension that helps retail investors analyse financial articles in relation to their personal stock portfolio. The extension is operated as an independent product.

2. What data we collect

We collect as little data as possible. Here is a complete overview:

Watchlist (stored locally): The tickers you add are stored in your browser's local storage using Chrome's storage.local API. This data never leaves your device unless you trigger a scan.
Article text (transient): When you click "Analyse this article" or "Deep Dive", the text of the current article is sent to our server to generate AI analysis. We do not store this text after the analysis is returned.
Scan counter (stored locally): Your daily scan count is stored locally to enforce the free plan limit. It resets automatically every day.
License key (stored locally): If you activate a Pro or Elite license, the key is stored in your browser's local storage.

3. What data we do NOT collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information.
We do not track which websites you visit or browse.
We do not store article text or analysis results on our servers.
We do not use cookies or cross-site tracking.
We do not sell any data to third parties.
We do not build user profiles or advertise to you.

4. AI analysis

When you request an analysis, the article title, URL, and text are sent to our backend server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers). The server forwards this content to the Anthropic API to generate the AI analysis. Anthropic processes the content in accordance with their own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/privacy.

Neither we nor Anthropic retain your article content after the analysis response has been generated and returned to you.

5. Yahoo Finance ticker search

When you search for a ticker in the watchlist input, your search query is sent to the Yahoo Finance Search API to retrieve matching stock names and exchanges. Yahoo Finance's own privacy policy applies to this data.

6. License and payments

Purchases of Pro and Elite plans are processed by LemonSqueezy, an independent payment processor. We receive only a license key confirmation — we do not handle or store payment card details. LemonSqueezy's privacy policy applies to your payment data.

7. Permissions

StockSpy.ai requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab / tabs / scripting: To read the content of the article you are currently viewing, only when you click Analyse.
storage: To save your watchlist, scan counter, and license key locally on your device.
Host permissions for api.anthropic.com, query1.finance.yahoo.com, stockspy-api.pcmbosschaart.workers.dev, stockspyai.lemonsqueezy.com: To perform AI analysis, ticker lookup, and license validation.

8. Data retention

All data stored by StockSpy.ai lives in your browser's local storage and can be deleted at any time by clicking "Reset" in the extension, or by uninstalling the extension.

9. Children's privacy

StockSpy.ai is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
